It seems that the interview acitivity, at least on SDN, ahas significantly slowed down, like Tufts, BU etc. Maybe we are in for a barrage of them soon 🙂. What do you guys think?

I have been waiting on Tufts for a long time now too. I hope that they are still going to send out more invites... ?

I know a girl who (4 years ago) applied to Tufts in June (noting an August MCAT retake), got an interview invitation in February, interviewed in March, and got in! Never, never give up. 🙂

i hear ya guys. i would do some crazy stuff to get into that school 😉

Ok great to know, but overall it seems as if schools have slowed down. Maybe they are bracing themselves for the deadlines, and then will get down to business. I mentioned Tufts because its a damn good school, but also I haev not seen a tufts invite in while.

think they generally have batches. so first batch of interviews go out, committee meets, then second, etc. that is, for these rolling schools. not the case for places like harvard, etc.

well that said, any idea how often they meet? Interestingly I was placed under the active consideration category preinterview at Tufts, and a Hold at a coupl eof other places. As far as Tufts goes, I dunno if everyone is originally in that pile before the next batch of invites go out, or Im just out of luck.

My friend who went to interview at BU recently said that the admission told them that this year they recieved over 11,000 applicants and the first cycle of interviews was ended today. They will make the first-round decision in January, giving acceptances to fill up about 1/3 of the class, deferred and rejections to the rest. Then the deferred pool will be reconsidered with the later pool. And the final decision will be made in March. Hope this helps

A former adcom I know said that at many schools, things slow waaaaaaaay down in Admissions from a few days before Christmas to a few days after New Years. There are a lot of staff vacations during this time.

lol that is only natural, i mean adcoms are people too, they deserve breaks just like all of us.

You mean people actually make these decisions? I thought it was some kind of supercomputer, something along the lines of what the BCS uses

haha . . . with about the same effectiveness!

BCS? either way i think it should be a true claim that people actually have to enter thet process some time or later.

what he said.

haha no... the BCS calculations make waaay more sense than admissions...

the BC$ and "making sense" really should never be included in the same sentence. 😀

I was also placed under the active consideration category pre-interview at Tufts...dont know what that really means (seems like a hold) but hopefully it is not one of those delayed rejections!

above,
how did oyu find this out?
thx

I called. I'm not worried yet since I think everyone is in this pool preinterview (correct me if Im wrong) but they dont inform you of it. I called and specifically asked and that was the response so I'm unsure. Since no new tufts invites have gone out for awhile (at least here on SDN) i think maybe we will be included in the next batch possibly? Ive heard they inviet for interviews every 2 weeks or so, so lets see what happens. once I see an influx of invites and I dont get on, I will likely give them another call. Any advice, or opinions of people who may have been, or know of, the situtaion?
