Have ya?
Today, I walked in a patient breastfeeding her kid. I was so embarrassed.
Basically, I knocked the door first and needed to get the baby's form in the afternoon. Mom was asleep. My knocking woke her up and she told me to come in. So I just walked in and grabbed it (in order to order some stuff). However, I dropped the other form that I collected earlier. A couple minute later, I realized that I dropped it so I went back. I knocked and walked in. She was breastfeeding already. I was like, "I am SOOOOOOOO sorry. I dropped something. I thought you were still sleeping" She was like, "it's okay, don't worry"

Hope she's not mad at me!

How about you?

I've walked in on plenty of women breastfeeding their kids--never a big deal. My intern walked in on a patient having sex w/ her boyfriend when i was on l&d.

are patients allowed to have sex in their rooms?

it's the freakin hospital, what privacy? ive done physical exams while people are on the bowl, especially when im running late to morning report and their BMs arent going anywhere

That's not impressive. Call us when you do a physical exam on a patient whilst you're on the bowl! Now that's impressive.

lol, patients ask me to pull them out of the bowl all the time, I dont purposefully walk in there. i just go ahead and listen to heart and lungs while im at it

Actually yes, I was working at a Psych hospital and every 15 minutes we need to mark where every patient is. Needless to say I went into the room of one of the patients without knocking because the door was kind of open. Lo and behold, he was having a private session with himself standing up. I left him alone after that. I also wanted to vomit.

Lesson learned? ALWAYS KNOCK!

How does this even happen?

I think he means on the bedpan, not on the bowl. Most patients would be very offended to be examined while sitting on the actual toilet, althoughI've gotten histories from people taking a crap before.

OP. The women just spent several hours in the most excrutiating pain of her life. At the end she put her legs in stirrups and 2 residents, an attending, and a medical student stood staring at her vagina while she was in the last stage of labor. In the middle the medical student pressed against her perineum to avoid tearing (even though there is zero evidence it helps). She proceeded to fart and poop all over the table right before the baby came out.

I can absolutely promise you she could not care less that you walked in while she was breast feeding.
