Quick question for all of those who are in the know--
I just decided that I might be interested in being a dentist instead of medical.
I'm planning to take the DAT but if I do take them, should I send them to the schools even if I'm not applying til next June? Please let me know!

Thanks for all your help.

ya, I think you should send them.

BTW if you decided to switch to dentistry because it might be easier to get into, then you are in the wrong spot my friend, I hope thats not your reason ..

haha another example of what me and my buds call "meticulous planners." they are more focused on getting into a program than giving it some serious thought about what they really want to do. the "meticulous planner" include people who take admission exams for other fields of study just in case things fall through for their original plan. i've even met people who wanted to go into dentistry because they found it more attractive to attend an ivy dental school with their grades than go to a less prestigous medical school. It's frustrating really, these people end up having the grades to get into dental school but are doing not because they have a strong passion for it but because they treat it like a backup.

Why are you so critical of others adizzle? Sounds almost like your envious of your so called "meticulous planners." I was pre-med originally and switched over to dentistry. My decision to pursue dentistry was for numerous reasons, not because it was a back up or that I was unable to get into a decent med school (never even applied).

This thread was created for advice/help not your B.S. opinion.

c1ll4xd: Just send your score reports. I believe your able to send your official scores to 5 schools free of charge. Take advantage.

Since when did criticism equate to envy? No need to get defensive and justify your reasons for getting into dentistry, it wasn't a personal attack on you but take it however you'd like. My post was about telling to op to take some time to think about what he/she wants to do before actually taking the exam. Others share the same view, go ahead and look at the previous responses.

Thank you everyone for your input & advice. I'm going to call the schools I am interested in and ask the admissions what they think.

Once again thanks and good luck to all of you in your endeavors.

I would call Prometrics or ADA and see how that works. I'm not sure if you have to pick the schools you are going to submit the scores to right away or if you can wait to send them.
