Havn't started studying yet...leave it off?

I had been planning to start studying on May 28th and I did do the first week. This week however I had a financial emergency which forces me to change all my summer plans and find a job immediately and work all summer in order to pay my rent. I'm still trying everyday to find a job and I'm in a very unstable situation and too stressed to start studying with the schedule.

I'm just wondering what the popular opinion is. Do you think it's too late to start studying and do GOOD on the mcat and I should just leave it off for next summer ? Or do I still have a chance if I start now?

It sounds like you're not planning on applying this cycle, so you could probably leave it off until April, or even next August. It's definitely not too late to start studying (2 months I would say is the cut-off for that), but all else is equal if you take it in April instead.

You still have time to study for the August MCAT; however, you need to make sure to make it one of your top priority if you're planning on applying for 2007.

Yes I'm planning to apply for the 2008 cycle but I can't imagine finding enough time to study for and taking it in April so if I do leave it off it will have to be for next August..although I don't know if there will be a better CBT test date during the summer that would allow me to get my scores earlier and maybe in time for the application process.

Considering it's supposed to be offered 22 different times in 2007, you might be able to find a date more suitable to your needs.

Since youre applying for the 2008 cycle.....studying for the MCAT now is too early unless you've pretty much completed all the pre-reqs and all the info is still fresh in your head.

Yea well I completed the pre-reqs 2 years ago. I think in this part of Canada (Quebec), students finish their mcat prereqs earlier than the rest of Canada and the US, because of some similarities to the British system.
