So I'm just twiddling my thumbs here till matchday so having random thoughts about my future between video game loading screens. I happen to be intrested in headaches. Something I heard a few times on the IV trail when I mention that intrest was a general neurologist should be able to handle it or in many cases a mid level. Most of the programs didnt have headache specialist because they didnt see that as a deficit. How much does a headache fellowship really affect your abilities and confidence with headaches besides some experience with botox and some nerve blocks.

I don't have an answer to your question, but i just wanted to add the information/context that I've gathered as another student interested in headaches:

There's about 40 fellowships spots nationally. Headache isn't an abms certified specialty. I assume it's because it's too small. There's something else called the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS) that gives out some sort of certification for headache. There are currently like 400 practicing UCNS certified headache specialists.

I'm not entirely sure if UCNS is the board that gives out headache fellowship certificates. And i'm not even sure if you even need to do a fellowship to be UCNS certified. Some of the specialties that UCNS deals with seem to have a practice (as opposed to fellowship) pathway to certification.
