Health insurance in dental school

If everything works out as planned this application cycle I will be entering dental school August 2016. I will be 26 years old making me no longer eligible to reap the benefits of my parents insurance plan. How does health insurance work in dental school?

The school I'm going to added it to our fafsa. It was $2500 and we have the option to sign a waiver if we don't need it.
