Hey WALKE, quick question regarding accepting the offer. Do we reply to the school through e-mail or do I print out the e-mail, mark my response, and then send it to the school through mail. Thanks

they send you a formal letter in the mail and there are a couple forms you have to fill out. So I would just wait for that, then send it back in with your $750.

Jackets - did you interview or were you offered acceptance pre-interview?

for those of you who got an e-mail acceptance, what time did you receive the email, i know this is a dumb question, but i am anxious and expecting a decision this wednesday, hopefully.

i got my email at 7:16 am... PST, so probably 9:16 or 10:16 depending on where you are. it was a wed.
Good luck to you!

Good luck to everyone hoping for a decision tomorrow.

did anyone recently get a pre-interview acceptance recently besides JACKET? or did they stop doing that already? i've been complete for a week now and still no word from them.

Just FYI for people waiting :

The way MSUCOM does admissions... Once you are complete, they "score" your application with a weighted number. 60% of that number is academics, 40% is volunteer/extra/LOR. How they actually come to this number they don't say. Based on this number, they rank you. Every Wednesday, they take the top 20% of scores and evaluate them in committee meeting. At this time they (the 10-12 people in the adcom) vote. You are either offered admission right away, offered interview, waitlisted or denied admission. So some very strong applicants may hear a week after they are complete, whereas some weaker applicants might be finished in September and not be at the 20% to be evaluated until maybe December. They like to have 90% of the class picked by December 15 too.

If I am a little off in any of this sorry, but this is what I remember from my meeting with the head of the adcom in July and asking 900,000 questions.

Anyways, hope this helps people a bit in wondering how long it will be till they review you. I think that offers go out on a rolling basis on Wednesday, the week I got my acceptance I got it at noon.

Good luck to all waiting!!! It's a great school and the adcom is really great about looking at everything about you (hence 40% is not academic!)

Thanx WALKE219, now i definitely know why i didn't hear anything today. I am not the best of applicants academically or non-academically and so I probably will have to wait multiple weeks. Too bad I guess, anyways, do you know how much the interview counts toward a final decision?.

I don't really, I do know the interviews are with Dr. Falls, who is the dean of student services, and the head of the committee. So I'm sure if you make a really good impression on him that could swing things a lot I would imagine. Good luck to you!
Like I said, don't quote me on any of this information, that's just what they told me and I am going from memory.

I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this:

I paid my 2ndary fee online a week ago and my status hasn't updated. Does it take a while? I am wondering if this is why my materials are also not updated, because I think my packet would have reached them by now.

Thanks! Good luck to everyone!

Well, actually I already interviewed with Joe Perch not Dr. Falls and he said that he liked me a lot, I hope that means something when it comes to decision time.

I called them and they are backed up in case anyone was wondering. Makes sense. 👎

That makes me feel better. MSU is my #1 choice, and not hearing anything is driving me crazy!

Any new news today?

Nope, I haven't heard anything and I interviewed on 10/24. Turns out last week my interviewer did not provide feedback to the committee before its meeting. I don't know what's going on this week but it is so hard waiting :scared: 👎 .

sorry, backed up = they have a lot of applications to put in their system. just call and ask if they have received your stuff and they will look to see if they it. hope that helps.

Wait a minute! They don't accept a committee letter through Virtual Evals?? I applied to the regular MD program there, and haven't seen anything about this... Am I missing something??

Anybody have an idea what this might mean:

you should have a final decision within 3 to 5 days.

Would you like to respond to this? We just now got his file back from the Dean and it is ready to be mailed.

I think this means that I am either waitlisted or rejected because if I was accepted I would get an email just like the other people who got accepted right?
