I have been reading this site for months and I finally decided I should officially join. Anyway, I was wondering how many others are still in limbo with stanford? I was complete 9/15 and I have heard nothing. Is this good or bad news??? 😱

No news is, well, no news. I think a. they're doing this much later than most schools and b. they're probably behind due to offering everyone secondaries this year.

no news from stanford for me either. good news is we missed the guillotine of rejections that came down right before christmas. bad news is we still don't have an interview invite and no idea if we'll get one anytime soon or at all.

I emailed Stanford today about an application update. I got a reply that suggested for me to bring the information to my interview. Since I have yet to receive an invitation, I called them to see if I had perhaps missed something. Basically, I have not received an invitation yet, but I am in "the final stages of review, and they are not sure when Dr. Garcia (the dean) will finalize it." Apparently, he personally reviews each file at the end and has the last say. I have been complete since 9/15.

Don't worry... I know, it's easier said than done 🙂 I didn't get anything from Stanford today either. At least we didn't get a rejection before Christmas so keep your hopes up. I am feeling your pain though. I so badly want to be a tree Our day will come, soon hopefully!

I've heard nothing; however, I have seen various folk with rejection notices from Stanford floating around the SDN forums and elsewhere, and most of those were received in December, so hopefully if one has not yet been rejected...???

not going to pretend that this doesnt suck, but i pretty much saw it coming.

I'm sorry to hear that IndyZX. I'm not sure that not having heard yet means an automatic interview invite. Not having heard yet seems to be just that. I am still waiting... and quite frankly, if I don't hear anything by mid January, I will withdraw my application. Hear that Stanford: WITHDRAW!

Wow! Bad golden bear One of my good friends went to Cal and she only supports my wish to become a tree because Cal doesn't have a med school.

I am thinking happy thoughts for everyone who wants to become a tree! I am worried a little since I don't have quite the same MCAT scores as IndyXY. Hopefully they like athletes from a very diversified background. Otherwise, I am in trouble!

I am beginning to think they employ some sort of voodoo ritual in their selection criteria. Hardly any of us SDNers that got picked early by other "top" schools have heard anything, or even been rejected by them. At this point, I am feeling rather indifferent towards the schools I have left to hear from, and would be ok if they just rejected me. Then I would know that I have no more interview trips this spring!

I don't think Cal and Stanford are that rivalry academically as they are in football .... oh yes, it seems like more than 50% of the professors at Berkeley's dept of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research were Stanford grads .... so I guess that lots of them join us over here ... so why don't I go to join Stanford for med school over there 😍 😉

I do worry though .... my MCAT and GPA are not that impressive as IndyXY's ... may be this year they are looking for engineers ... yeah, engineers are going to be great doctors (yep, that's right because they know fluid mech and heat transfer ... and most med has something to do with flow and transport process) 😉 ... maybe I'm right that it's the thing Stanford is looking for ... who's knows???

I sent a letter w/ my publication in it and the person told me that they were not updating the files, but I could bring it to my interview, should I get one of course. Yeah, I was talking about athletics. My friend always talked about the big game or the big meet (in track). Stanford has quite a successful athletic program which makes me wonder why they haven't decided to go with a more mobile mascot.

As for what they are looking for... Well, who knows right? I'm thinking that with their new curriculum, applicants with lots of independent research/work will probably be regarded favorably. It seems the program is very flexible. Come on Stanford! Show me some love 😍

I don't think you should worry very much. You should get an interview, if I have anything to do with it.
