Hello! I would just like to ask if having an experience as a US RN counts as a USCE?

Hello. I am currently a Third year IMS from the Philippines. I had 2 years of experience as an ICU nurse in California then decided to go to med school. I just like to ask if that experience counts as a USCE? Or should I need to look for electives in US to gain USCE? I am planning on applying in US IM residency after finishing my MD and taking the USMLE.

It is better than nothing, but not really what we think of in terms of USCE.

What you describe shows that you have interacted with the medical system in the US, which is good, but doesn't necessarily show you know how to perform as a physician within the US health system. The gold standard is to perform well on a US elective rotation. Many IMGs find it impossible to gain meaningful USCE after graduation, so I strongly urge you to try and get an elective NOW while you're still in school.
