I really find the subject of anatomy really interesting and would love to take the class, but I feel like it is too hard since it involves so much memorization. My goal in life is hopefully to either go to Pharmacy School or Medical School and I feel that I will do poorly in my biological classes in the future. So far I have done good in my Calculus and Chemistry classes, but I am getting nervous that when I take my biological science classes I will do bad. Is there anything you guys can recommend for me to do. Are there any careers in the health department that make a good amount of money like around as much as a pharmacist makes or doctor that do not involve biological science or involve minimal knowledge in that field? I really want to do something good with my life to help others and make a good living at the same time, but after going to anatomy for two lessons I feel very depressed that I can not do anything in the health department in the future because I am not good at this one thing. Please help me in any way you can and if you can make any good recommendations for me.

Anatomy is my favorite subject but I struggled for the first few weeks because I had minimal exposure to biology classes before taking it. The key is to ask for help and get a tutor to walk you through the harder concepts and who will help teach you how to break it down in a way that you understand it.

There are many healthcare professions that you can look into. Nursing, respiratory therapy, x-Ray tech, and many more. Don't give up on anatomy, seek out help, and good luck! 🙂

If you think average pharmacists and physicians make similar amounts of money (or will do so in the future), then please go be a pharmacist.

@koh1995 What grades have you received in biology classes in the past? You may just be experiencing some anxiety. Being proficient in biology is important for becoming a doctor/dentist/pharmacist/optometrist/podiatrist/PA and most all higher level providers. Give it a hard try and seek help when you need it, or even preemptively to curtail the problems you anticipate.
There are lots of jobs in healthcare. Nursing (RN, not sure about NP education) is one such career that isn't particularly biology intensive in terms of education and training. There are public health jobs that require no biology courses. Explore them to see what you may enjoy.
You need to understand that you can't really decide one day during your junior or senior years, "Med school sounds good. Docs make bank." and expect a good outcome. You need to make a decision soon as to what you want to pursue as a career so you can really get started and have everything you need together when it comes time to apply. On the other hand, you may decide to change your career later in life. Many med students are non traditional.
There are many other forums than just Pre-med. Look through them for more information. Good luck!

Have you had a bad experience with biology in the past? Sometimes that may set you out on a bad course to start with. That is how physics was for me.

Well not with that attitude you won't.

You think anyone likes sitting there tediously memorizing latin names and tiny crevices? It's a bitch, nobody does. But it's worth it in the end, so just keep reminding yourself of your end goal.

Its not that I do not like the subjects. I really enjoy sitting in class and learning about the body and all that. I just cannot seem to ever be able to memorize things. I am really bad with it because it is not like math or chem where I can do a million practice problems. It just me sitting there against the flashcards and I can never seem to memorize. I am just a bad memorizer.

they both make a good solid amount of money is all I am trying to say.

I need help memorizing. Any tips for memorizing every bone in the body, every part of the body in scientific terms, etc..?
It is my freshman year in college and I do not want to do law because I am bad at memorizing, can't do engineering & computer science because after calculus I math gets impossible, and the only profession I see myself doing besides those is the health career and I thought I had a good shot at it until I took anatomy. Please tell me some public health jobs that can make their own office in the future and make a good amount of money. I really can not find any great jobs to work towards.

I had a bad experience with biology in high school and I thought maybe in college it would be better, but I was wrong. Its memorizing and I am still horrible with memorization.

I know its worth it at the end!!!

So, you want the prestige and money without the effort? 😵

You had to have memorized things for calculus and chemistry, so I'd suggest repetition. Write stuff out over and over. Use mnemonics. If your heart wants nothing more than medicine, you'll get over your mental block with effort.

When it comes to memorizing, which I consider myself good at, try to relate the items with objects or other items that remind you of them. Also, really focus in class. When I say this many people tell me they do, but I can tell they really don't. You want to have as an intense focus as possible when it comes to biology classes,.because if your the type of person whose gonna refer back to the book for details lord help u. Your instructor will highllight the details in lecture and that's what u refer to the book for. It's niot like chemistry where I can just Google the subject and do practice problems . U Google biology subjects and u have encyclopedias of information to sift through.

Ohh and I consider it more important to listen to what the instructor says rather than try to write everything down from their slides/notes. They often throw key details not in their notes that are very important to hear and note down. Can't tell u how many times I got questions on a biology exam that was based on something I heard them talk about in lecture but wasn't included in their notes
