HELP!!! I Can't find MD's to shadow in Southern California!!

Help!!! I'm trying to find doctors to shadow in southern california and no one is letting me or responding!! I don't get how people do this. I've been calling all the doctors I can find, but they are either not getting my messages or are ignoring them cause no one is responding! I've even been resorting to snail mail and writing them letters explaining that I would like to shadow them but they aren't responding either! Can anyone give me pointers on on how they did it? I live in Riverside California btw.

Contact the volunteer department at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and ask them about the Independent Student Volunteer program. It is the formal, organized shadowing and research program. It's good stuff.

I actually just went into an urgent care and asked to talk them about interning, which is what I used as my shadowing experience. I came in 4 hours a week for a couple of months, and got a lot of time in. The physicians are usually really nice about letting you come in, and even though it might be boring to file stuff at first the longer you're there the more you get to do. I would also try a really small urgent care (the one I was at only had one doctor and no nurses).

I am pretty sure they have a location in Riverside. It looks like a lot of commitment and it's definitely not all shadowing BUT I imagine it would definitely enable you to meet some physicians and get your foot in the door.
