Hi,
I know you guys already have all your letters at this point, so maybe you can help me. Is it neccessary to have an A in the professor's class if you want a good letter? (Keep in mind I don't know any of my professors) I do remember some as being not the type I would want to entrust with something like this, even though I got A's in their classes. One professor who I asked just replied and said he could write a letter, but not a strong one since I only got a B+ in his class. I thought he could have based his recommendation on my whole academic record as well as other factors, which I told him I would supply him. Do all professors see it this way? This is so frustrating because I have to depend on these people who taught me in a class 5-8 years ago and know nothing about me.

My experience, probably less than others here, is that if you are solely going with profs you dont know (a problem I also had - for those of us not going to gudger college with more than 30 people per class its tough to get to know the prof), it really depends on the prof. I had one prof tell me that even though I did well in his class all he could write in the ref letter are my test scores since he didnt know me. So really try to find out what the prof is going to write even if you did well in that class.
