Hi guys
I am pre dental student....i need help in choosing my major. What if i get my bachlor in Food , nutrition and science? what is the best major for me? I wanna get my bachlor in something thats marketable.

Been answered 2 billion times. You can major in anything, just take the pre-reqs listed on every single admissions page of every single dental school website.

Don't take bio because everyone else does if you are going to fail it. Hell if you love art or english or history then take one of those and get a 4.0.

we cant choose your major for you.
Major in something you enjoy.

Everything is marketable if you are good enough at it.
Being a Pre-dental major is nothing special, all you have to do is take some classes, and bing your pre-dental. its not a actual major.

Major in metal shop, food science, the culinary arts, aviation, learn anything your heart desires.

Dental schools wont turn you away because you majored in beer making, but they will turn you away if your grades weren't acceptable in the required classes.

yeah..thnx for the advise. I wanna work as a dental assistant while i am in college....so i have better chances of getting in to dental school. How do i get that position. Can i apply online? BCs it's been really hard for me to get research or dental assistant

Hey Siraj,

Pick a major you enjoy and be really good at it (the admissions committe will ask you alot of questions regarding your school experience).

For me i picked Zoology, Film Studies and Literature....so what does that have to do with dentistry? absolutely nothing. But i made me a well-rounded candidate and open-minded, something dentists in the yesteryears have had trouble in.

As for being a dental assistant in college, that is the ABSOLUTE BEST move any pre-dent can make in college. The most important part being successful in dental school is going in already knowing most about dentistry. I can't stress how much my 3 year experience as a dental assistant has helped me. The way i got the job is by sending out my resume to 20 dentists within a 5 mile radius of my school/home and explaining to them that i would be willing to work as an unpaid intern for a quarter/semester (you can even get college credit), then work your tail off, ask alot of interesting question, befriend the staff, and make it seem like you're part of the crew. I was offered a permanent job in the middle of my intern and made a heck of alot more than slinging coffee at Starbucks.

hope this helps
