Hey guys,

I took my DATS this past summer and did horrible... got a 15 don't even want to go through the breakdown. I am currently in Dental Hygiene school right now and have been talking to the advisor about dental school. I have two options one is to take a year off and bring up my GPA by taking more advanced level biology classes and work as a dental hygienist and retake the gpa. The other option she told me is to just work really hard and take the DATS again in Jan before the application cycle is over since I already applied in June. My application profile is really strong with tonnes and tonnes of voluntary work, awards, research, activities, leadership positions I am top five of my Hygiene class and my overall GPA is 3.2 and science 3.1... What is the best thing to do? are two months enough to study for the DATS? I am extremely confused.... Please help me ...

Thanks

So you are currently in dental hygiene school, that means you won't have much time to prep, however, IF you are confident that you will have time to go through KBB, destroyer, Cliffs AP bio, Topscore, Achiever, CDP and CDM before the January test and get 22 or higher AA and TS, i think you should continue your application.
Though, i am going to be honest here, 15 means your foundation in science and academic core is very weak, so it'll be very hard to pull off the study... I recommend you to finish your current degree, fully focus on the DAT then apply again next year.
Best of luck
