help me out with a cbl case please

hey i got a 6 month old kid meaned by a vegetarian mother who probably has b12 difinciency. i could figure out the elevated homocystine and cystothionine in urine but i'm lost as to the reason for elevated formate.
any help?

I tried to look this up for you but most texts don't measure urine samples because the serum measures better diagnose B12 def. My guess would be because the mother is taking in a lot of folate (grains and leafy vegetables) which might be masking the B12 problem, she is excreting the excess folate as formate. It seems like they are asking you a question that has nothing to do with how you would diagnose or treat this problem....
