So yesterday I found out about the end of grade replacement. Not sure if it's official but it appears to be true. In which case, I signed up to retake an algebra class which I got a C in a 4 credit class from freshmen year. So my question is, is it even worth it to retake that class? I believe if I got a A in the class, DO schools will take the average, so a B in a 4 hour credit class worth it or am I better off taking another biology course?

Anything below a A- in your repeat will be lethal.

I'd take the upper level science since it will help both science and cum. GPA. The algebra will not do anything for your science for AACOMAS.

I understand that the algebra does not help with my science gpa I was just going to take it to boost my cGPA if it's worth it

It's official.
A lot of people recommended that I take UD Science courses or other courses (hard subjects) to prove that I've improved in studying quality and to prove that I can knock out courses in my first trial.

Hm ok. It just sucks cause my freshmen year I did not do so well in some of my electives. I was just going to retake one of them since it is 4 credits. Class starts next week so I need to figure if I should replace that algebra class for a science/psychology class or not.

Pretty sure DO schools still don't include math in sGPA, so you would definitely be better served to take the upper division bio class.

Yeah, sorry bud. It's painful to me as well.
Because I came back to school after 2 years of living under a rock... then got a C in a remedial English course in my first semester. Then proceeded to take 3 more English courses (one compo, one critical and one lit) and aced them. But still, there is nothing I can do about that C.

I have two NP's and 4 W's because of my foolishness. But I'm all thinking about how to pick myself up and move forward. Because I can do better 😛

Retaking algebra is a waste of time and resources. Adcoms want to see you excel in more challenging science classes...

I heard that some school have cutoffs at 3.25 so I thought retaking algebra would help. But I see your point, and I guess I'll take a different class.

@I'mJustCurious

Are you going to continue taking undergrad classes or will you consider SMPs?
By summer I will be done retaking all the classes I planned (3 of them) + 2 bio classes. After that I'm not sure what to do because I was going to use my first gap year to retake classes, the second year to take upper level courses and take the MCAT. Then apply to an SMP program because almost all of them requires an MCAT score. I was going to make a thread about my future plans since the retake rules are different.
