Hi,

I have a dual-degree in Accounting and Finance with Pre-Dent from University of Maryland. Currently, I am doing Health Care accounting but pondering going to Dental School. My overall GPA is a 3.0 and science GPA is a 2.8. Have not taken my DAT's yet. First four years I slacked off and that caused my GPA to be miserable but for the past year (~30 credits), I have maintained a 3.8 average.

Also, where else could I get in with the criteria above and a 21-22 DAT score?

Thanks!

Oh man, they cant be that bad? 40 views and still no response. I am a little scared 😕 🙁 😳 :xf: 😎

Maryland is a very tough school. I don't think they accept less than 3.5 GPA.

I have a friend who was accepted to Maryland with a 3.3 overall GPA and a 19 on her DAT. She is also from out of state and had no special connections with the school. You could always call and ask to meet with someone from admissions. They are usually more than happy to sit down with you and let you know where you need to improve. Hope this helps!

Dude, if you rock a 20+ on your DAT's, you'll be looked at. I know someone with a <3.0 GPA that got into Maryland (MD resident, graduate school, research and work experience). Anyone that says they don't accept anyone with <3.5 GPA is a fool.

GPA is an indication of how you will survive the academic aspect of dental school. It is very important for you and also for the schools. The schools use it to block out drop out, so you don't waste their time and they don't waste your money.

If you have 3.0ish gpa, but have shown dedication in what you do and ability to succeed, i believe there is no real "cut off". So just apply and if you rock the DAT and got good ECs, you are set and rest is up to the admission gods

Bro, if you want to have a chance just break 20 on the DAT and you need to 100% get a committee letter from the prehealth advising office then you should be fine.
