Hi everyone! I'm looking for some help narrowing down/revising my current list of schools to apply to this cycle. Most of my decision making thus far has been based on location, as I want to stay in the northeast. I've also weeded out schools that have low OOS acceptance rates.

Details:
Top 10 university
cGPA: 3.57, sGPA: 3.4
Strong upward trend, graduating with semester GPA of 4.0
Taking MCAT in June, aiming for at least a balanced 510
URM (Latino)
NY Resident

ECs:
50 hours shadowing
3 years as client advocate for Latino patients
2 years research at undergraduate institution (no publication)
SURP program last summer, independent research project and poster presentation
Employed on campus as event photographer
A few other clubs, with leadership positions

The list so far:

NEW YORK
ALBANY
BUFFALO-JACOBS
COLUMBIA
CORNELL-WEILL
EINSTEIN
HOFSTRA NORTH SHORE-LIJ
MOUNT SINAI-ICAHN
NEW YORK MEDICAL
NEW YORK UNIVERSITY
ROCHESTER
SUNY UPSTATE
SUNY DOWNSTATE
STONY BROOK

DC
GEORGE WASHINGTON
GEORGETOWN

MASSACHUSETTS
BU
TUFTS

PENNSYLVANIA

DREXEL
JEFFERSON-KIMMEL
TEMPLE
PENN STATE

CONNECTICUT

QUINNIPIAC-NETTER

RHODE ISLAND
BROWN-ALPERT (I've heard that they have a strong interest in non-trads and Brown undergrads--should I remove?)

VERMONT
UVM

I understand that certain schools like Cornell, Mount Sinai, Columbia, etc. are high reaches due to my low GPA, but my dream is to attend medical school in Manhattan. I'd definitely prefer to stay in an urban area, but I feel that I need to keep schools like UVM and Quinnipiac as safeties. Any insight into specific schools or suggestions for ones to add/remove would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Puerto Rican. I grew up hearing more English than Spanish, but I've taken advanced courses in college and I'm definitely proficient. All of my work as a patient advocate for the past 3 years has been exclusively with Spanish speaking clients. I'm also first generation college if that means anything.

The schools that you have a chance for an interview will greatly depend on your MCAT score. Post your score here when available and we can give you more accurate advice about which schools to apply to. Albany, NYMC, Quinnipiac, Vermont, the DC and Pennsylvania schools and the SUNY's are reasonable choices if your MCAT is 508 or higher.
