hey all im thinking of taking an independent study course for my second semester of inorganic chemistry. its like a class but with no lecture - u just study on ur own online. so my questions are:

1. Will med school care that I took this independent study course? it says on the transcript about your exam dates, will list the class separately from the rest (in the same semester but alone by itself) and also will say it's a correspondence course

2. Does it look bad on the transcript at all or what? I need to know soon so if anyone has experience with distance education courses, lemme know please, thanks a bunch

Eer, best to take it as a class.. plus you need LAB I think for most medschools as a pre-req as well.. not sure.

should be fine, as long as theres a lab included.

well i got two contradicting response. so which is correct one?

but seriously, Im not kidding, i would really appreciate answers, thanks

You should take it as a regular class. Adcoms are set in their ways... some are looking for any reason to throw away your app. Why give them a reason?

If there is a lab then there should be no problem.

On a side note, people who take independant classes are usually those who physically can't make it there for that specified time period i.e. working full-time, research, kids or some other really good reason or all of the previous.

theres a lab - its computerised, on the CD. But i mean: its just like the regular class, counts as same amount of credit hours

as for why i want it: little cheaper, i learn better without lecture periods, and easier on my workload without having to attend 3-4 hrs of lecture every week

oh and i forgot to add: one goes to the tests when he wants, for those of u NOT familiar with indep. studying
