Help needed for part 2 preparation

Hi All,

I am a foreign trained dentist starting to prepare for part2 and needed some suggestions

1. How many months hardwork is sufficient for part2? How many hrs/day/week

2. What all materials one should use for preparation?

3. What should I emphasise on 10yr questions, decks or kaplan book

4. How difficult is part2 as compared to part1?

1. How many months hardwork is sufficient for part2? How many hrs/day/week
I studied for 3 months, did all the exams old and new
don't study for this exam 2 weeks before because it is broad and different than NBDE I. start it whenever you can, I would say 2 months is a good amount of time. Also know to early to start is not good cuz you might forget.



2. What all materials one should use for preparation?
Do Unreleased exams
do all the released exam from 1981 and on


3. What should I emphasise on 10yr questions, decks or kaplan book
as far as dental deck ( oral surg, pharm and prostho section are great)
for other parts, use kaplan notes
Get a book called " dental Secrete" most of board questions come from this book


4. How difficult is part2 as compared to part1?
Very difficult it is not even comparable
specialy the patient case study

I think the sugestios from Prosthoman are very good. I am foreign trained too, and I did not know about this forum, so noone advise me how to do it, but I did very much like prosthoman advised you. I bought all the released exams from the ADA and the Dental Decks in 2004, if you are interested in them. Good Luck
