I have begun some research on potential DO schools. I want to submit as soon as possible, i.e. June 1st

I know of only DO school as of right now and was wondering of any local or top DO schools to apply to.
Right now I am 100% applying to OSU-COM in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This is where I live and have shadowed various doctors at this medical school.

Here are some stats:

State of residence - Oklahoma

Cumulative GPA - 4.00
Science GPA - 4.00

MCAT Scores - I took the monster April 2015 exam. My scores don't come out until June 17th, yet I have percentiles.

BIO: 85-100%
CARS: 47-62%
CHEM: 85-100%
SOC: 39-54%

TOTAL = 73%-83%

Research – In process of publishing paper/ it has been submitted; research in two biology labs and have presented talks on my research at two conferences

Volunteering – by time I apply I will have about 300 hours volunteering in various projects. I have done about 200 at various hospitals. and about 100 at a local low cost clinic.

Physician shadowing – By time I apply I will have ~100 hrs of dedicated shadowing.
I already have a great DO letter that has been added to my application.

Extracurricular activities - I have done various campus projects, such as science outreach to local K-12 schools and held a president position at a student club on campus.

Employment history - I have worked at JCPenny and also worked as a research assistant in a lab for over a year.

These are just some stats, I want to apply broadly and to schools that look favorable to out of stats. Any advice would be amazing!

From What I remember a balanced 30 on the old MCAT was 75 percentile so..... a 4.00 gpa and 30 on the MCAT is overkill for DO. You can apply to any DO medical schools. Your stats are high enough to get interviews from MD schools as well.

I am an Oklahoma resident. So is there any that look favorable toward out of state. Also any top tier DO schools I should apply too.

I want to apply to DO because I like the ideology of a DO

I"m serious about you being able to get an interview from virtually any DO school with a GPA and MCAT like that. The average MATRICULANT DO student has a 27 MCAT and 3.5 gpa.

Your stats are considerably higher. I am also applying DO and researching what schools give extreme preference to instate vs outstate but then my stats are a lot worse than yours are so I have to actually consider this.

I understand. But I like DO philosophy.

Is their any ranking of DO schools that rate them as top tier and out of state of prescience.
The only school I know is OKlahoma state because I live right next to it yet I'm lost on others.

Hmm...There is a resource that gives information on each school. I forget what it is now. Its kind of like the MSAR for MD schools but it doenst give as much in depth information as they do.

I totally understand as I"m applying DO as well. I know top tier DO schools have MCAT averages around 28 or 29. Some even have a 30 MCAT average.

OH I just found one. Its only from 2012 though...

Wow thanks better than nothing.
I'm applying to about 10 MD and 5 DO.

Oh, from your earlier posts you made it seem like you were applying to only DO schools.

More power to you then.

I don't mind MD or DO. I'm applying to both just to increase my chances.

So DO schools don't have an instate preference or am I wrong?

I'd say from what I've seen they do, but most of them still accept around 30 percent or more from OOS.

Guess I'll just find a place I would like to spend the next 4 years. Guess there is no real ranking of schools.

Apply CCOM and PCOM - top tier schools and with your stats I think your good to go. Hope rest of your app is impressive as well bc that is a heavy point in DO schools moreso than even MD ones (i.e. the whole picture)
