hi,anybody can tell me is there any difference between aerotolerant anaerobes and facultative anaerobes?

from the kaplan: they are the same definition that do not require oxygen but tolerate it.

from the ridiculously simple: they are different.
aerotolerant anaerobes (such as Strep.)fermentation only lack cytochromes which means these bacteria do not require oxygen but tolerate it.
facultative anaerobes (such as staph.) both fermentation and electron transfer which means these bacteria do require oxygen but can grow in the absence of oxygen by using fermentation.
😕😕

An aerotolerant anaerobe is a non-facultative anaerobe that nevertheless is able to grow in the presence of molecular oxygen
A facultative anaerobe is an aerobic microorganism that can utilize fermentation when molecular oxygen is absent, and can utilize aerobic cellular respiration when O2 is present.

thanks for your info. Still have one question:😕
From the Ridiculolusly simple it is said that aerotolerant anaerobes can tolerate low amounts of oxygen because they have superoxide dismutase(but they do not have catalase).
