I'm a 3rd year medical student with horrible radiograph skills, i was wondering if anyone out there can make any recommendations as to a good site for a rotation if a student is just looking to LEARN, the institution does not to be prestigous but the preceptors need to be good and willing to teach. Lastly, i'm looking for a site that's in my area Southern California, but i'm willing to go anywhere, thanks in advance.

UCSF has a great radiology rotation for 4th years. It's almost entirely lectures, so there is very little sitting in the reading rooms being ignored by the attendings and residents.

along with the advice above ...

read as many films as you can on your rotations;
instead of just reading the radiology report, look at the film yourself and try to figure it out. then use the report as an answer key to check to see if you were right.
if you dont see what the report says, ask a resident to help you (hopefully they'll be nice enough to show you)

the more films you look at, the better you will get at reading them.

for some things, you have to see a lot of normals before you can see the pathology on the films, so take a look at those too 🙂

you're only half way through your 3rd year, don't expect to be a radiologist by now 😛 your skills will come with time 🙂

Indiana Univ. is outstanding for medical students as well. Great lectures.

I wish I had money so I could afford StatDx. I know it's mainly for CDS but the educational value of that size is incredible.
