76 on step one?

Are you able to communicate with an English speaking person?

Perhaps you should consider an ESL course (English as a second language) course so that you may learn how to say "Hello, how are you?"; "I am fine, and you?"

I can't imagine that if you spoke English you could score as low as you did...

Point #1.. Be able to speak with your patients (it may go a long way)

just a thought

76 is passing, I know of at least a few people in my class who were native born americans with obviously good english skills who scored that or lower. I don't see that as being a significant reason. The point is made to be able to communicate, but I don't see the need in associating it with score level.

I've heard from a few folks who had either low step 1 scores or failed it the first time to take their step 2 early enough to show significant improvement on it. The ones who didn't, had trouble matching into ob/gyn. Those who showed improvement had no problems.

Good luck.

I had a friend who got the same score (also ENGLISH SPEAKING AMERICAN...seriously...why the need for such hostility) and brought it up on Step II...not fabulously but in the 200 range and she matched into a great program.
