I'm an undergrad junior Biology major with a 2.8 GPA!!!! My freshman year first semester was really rough, but every semester after that I've gone up in regards to my GPA. I wanted to raise my GPA senior year and apply then, but now I'm thinking about just taking a DAT kaplan course this semester and applying my junior year. Any advice? PLEASE HELP I'll do anything to get into a good dental school or any for that matter. Also, is one semester enough time to study for the DAT?🙁

Just wait a year, bring up your GPA and extracurriculars and hit the DAT hard next year. There really is no need to rush things, especially if you have such a low GPA. Focus on your grades first!

I was in a similar situation at the end of my junior year. I had a 2.9 science gpa and I waited an extra year. I got tons more extracurricular/leadership/dental experience along with raising my science gpa to a 3.17. It was definately worth it!

Also, taking additional science classes before I applied really helped me on the DAT.

NewMexDent I love your ECs comment on your predents page...I tried to shave my dog once and I know it takes skill. I would have def. brought that up in an interview.

Yeah, that might have helped at Colorado.

here's some advice. Don't take the Kaplan course. Buy the Blue Book and study by yourself. You'll save a buncha money and time. The rest is obvious mumbo-jumbo - do good in school, shadow, ace the Dat, etc...
