No pun intended, but what should my next step be~~~???

I write my MCAT exam in September so I have a little bit over 2 months left. I want to score 512+ and I finished content review using Princeton Review and I did my first FL using Kaplan FL 1 and scored a 502 (How bad is this score right now??? Anyone else experience low scores from Kaplan??)

How should I practice to improve my score??? I'm feeling very nervous about reaching my goal score 🙁

Kaplan scores are generally deflated and not good predictors of your real score. That's actually a pretty decent score on a Kaplan test. The AAMC scored full length is the best predictor but you should save that to take closer to your test. You might consider taking the free Next Step test which has a more accurate score (still nowhere close to as good as the AAMC tho). At this point you shouldn't freak out over your scores- use your practice tests as an opportunity to find your weak areas and drill them. Make sure you spend a good amount of time reviewing your test after you take it. Good luck! Don't forget to do the AAMC section bank closer to your test date, those questions are great practice.

Hi @FauxBlue

If you just finished doing content review I would highly recommend you do more practice exams. Try to do at least one every week. You may have heard this already on this forum, but make sure you read over all the questions and answers after you do a practice exam (even the questions you get right).

OK! Glad to know that the Kaplan scores are generally deflated. I was feeling very bogged down about that score...do you think it's still possible to reach 512+ with that score for the Kaplan FL#1~~~??

That's a great idea~!~! Do you have recommendations for what I should do during the week on top of the 1 FL per week????

Yes you can definitely reach above a 512 with that score at this point. There's a thread that contains a huge table of other people's test scores and practice test scores that helped give me confidence! On my phone or I'd link it to you.

The best advice I could give you would be to do more practice exams, study all the questions and answers when you are done, and then do some content review of the sections you did the worst in. Keep doing that until the exam and I am sure you will do fine.

Brilliant~! What do you think about redoing past FLs and practice (such as Q-packs, sample test, etc)??? I'm a re-taker (third time now) and I've taken all the 3 NS FLs, 4EKs and 3TPRs before. Is it worth doing those again? I don't really have much of an option either since I really just haven't done Kaplan FLs (but as I heard earlier they're generally deflated and not representative)...

I think if you can find new practice exams then it is better, but it is always good to study old practice exams too. The AAMC exam is the best indicator of the real MCAT so make sure you study that one. As you get closer to the MCAT I would focus more attention on FL and not Q-packs.

NS has like 10 tests now. I think you're better off doing new tests than retaking old ones.
