Hi everyone. I am pre-writing my secondaries and basically doing some brainstorming, but I'm having some hard times coming up with adversity/challenge topics worth writing ... I do have two in mind but also have concerns on them, so I'd love to hear what you say about these and if you have any tips on how to think about good topics to talk about, that'd be really appreciated!
Challenge: In my junior year I burned out cuz I found the mcat was way more grinding than i thought, my research faced a lot of setbacks, many of my other extracurricular commitments were adding to my stress, and I got into some conflicts with my closest friends. I had a really difficult time and cried nights on end. Through reflections, I realized that I had to take a step back and allow myself to breathe rather than blindly working hard all the time. Lesson: the path of becoming an MD will be hard but I need to take care of myself and balance work and life. I feel like it would be a lame story but I'm struggling to think of other challenge topics 🙁
Adversity: I was choked by an intoxicated patient when I was on my EMT shift, which ended up involved in a year-long criminal case as a victim and a witness. I had to balance coursework, court hearings, police interviews, and extracurricular work, and i have to navigate those complex legal terminology as an ESL. But I've already put the brief version of the story in the other impactful experiences, would it be redundant if I talk about it more in-depth?
