I need to cancel one or two of the following interviews due to time and money constraints and I was wondering what people think about the programs/locations... thanks!

U of Arizona
U of New Mexico
UTSW
Tulane

Anestheticman, you usually offer good advice so I will try and do the same.

I have interviewed or I am going to interview at these schools.

U of Arizona: Very few perks, nothing impressed me but nothing scared me.
U of New Mexico: location, location, location. The only reason I consistently found that the residents went there is because they love the outdoor activities. To me that was a huge factor.
UTSW: I went there for an interview because it was convenient. It blew me a way in terms of quality, experience and perks for the residents.
Tulane: scared me, understandable but everything in the program was about what they are going to do if they get a chance nothing about what they had done or implemented to that point. I would label it potential.

I vote for canceling Tulane and Arizona, unless you aren't an outdoor type person then tulane and NM. The program director for NM posts occasionally on this board.

I'm much more of a city person although outdoors are nice I prefer urban areas.

Thanks for the advice... I probably can't do NM anyway just based on the day.

Tulane sounds like it is in transition which I was not aware of.

I know I would prefer Dallas location-wise of these places but I heard UTSW was a rough program and that residents were not happy there...

I also have an interview at Tulane coming up. I would not recommend cancelling yours. Tulane is a great institution. I deal with the med school a lot although I am in the MsPH program. Many of my professors also teach for the med school. New Orleans needs as much help as they can get and can benefit from a fresh group of bright students. They probably are in transistion but I don't believe that will intefere with the quality of education (at Tulane at least). Change is a postive aspect of any program.
