When you submit the courses on amcas, how do you choose the system? We use fall semester, winter semester, and spring/summer semester. I don't see a choice for winter except for mini semester wint/spr. What is that? I am so confused and anxious to get this done. Help me plz!! 🙁

AMCAS classifies them as 1st Semester (Fall) and 2nd Semester (Spring). Your school calls the 2nd sememster "Winter" -- no biggie. It's still the 2nd semester of the academic year.

The med schools won't see Fall, Spring, Winter. They'll see S1, S2, SS, etc for Semester 1, Semester 2, Summer Semester...

I didn't see that, I saw a minisemester called winter/spring. Is that what you are referring to? Why so they call it a minisemester? Sorry for all the questions. 😉

Nope. I'm talking about "2nd Semester (Spring)." See attached screen shot.

It just so happens that your school calls the second semester "Winter," AMCAS calls it "Spring." It's the same thing.

I got it! 🙂 Thank you so much. I think that it should be called the same thing across the board to cut down on confusion. How can they just rename something?! I'm just venting that's all. Thanks for your help. 👍

You're welcome. My University has always called it "Winter," but they're finally captitulating and are renaming it "Spring." I'm guessing "Spring" is more standard nationwide, which is probably why AMCAS also chose it.
