Thanks, I have a kind of specific question though, I don't get UNC

I know people have posted saying it is a good dental school, but I am just confused, they take so many NC applicants it is nearly impossible to get an interview.

the past two years half of the in state applicants got an interview as compared to roughly 1/10 of OOS applicants. And if they are taking so many NC applicants, are these students really that much "better" than other students or are they even getting a "better" dental education? Any opinions ?

Don't really understand your question. Most state schools take mostly IS applicants. Their OOS stats are extremely competitive because they only accept a small amount. Students aren't "better" and the education isn't "better", however relative of a term that is, it's just a good school with a decent amount of seats.

I'd like to point out that NC has many great undergraduate institutions such as Duke, UNC, Wake Forest and NC state among others, leading to a very competitive in-state applicant pool. They are just as competitive as any other students from any other state.

13/82 students in the incoming class are OOS, which really isn't so terrible for a state school! It isn't impossible to get an interview as an OOS student. I think this percentage is pretty standard for a non-private, but maybe I'm wrong.

From what I've seen, wherever you go, UNC is going to be recognized as a top-notch school. If you're interested in a great clinical education (and also plenty of research opportunities), you have the stats to apply.
