Hey guys. Is there a specific place on the AMCAS that one can write about extenuating circumstances that may have resulted in academic problems during your college career? Or do I just have to include it in the personal comments section?

Also, the "personal comments" is the place where you write your "personal statement", right?

I read somewhere that the personal comments section was not the place to explain low GPA and bad performance. Can you speak of it implicitly....maybe describe the situation that attributed to the effect but mention your grades directly?

I had a lackluster undergrad gpa, so I took the advice of this pre-med advisor book and wrote a letter to every school I applied to and attempted to explain my situation. I put all the good stuff in my personal statement, since that is your so called "time to shine". Whether it worked or not remains to be seen, but I fiqured it wouldn't hurt anything since they have to look at my transcript anyway.
