At our BMT lab, I noticed we have been discarding a number of stem cell units per month (5-10 units). Almost all are autologous units and the patient has already expired. Space is so limited that we have to make room for incoming units.
Any labs out there doing this differently? Anyone using these for research? I feel like it's a tremendous waste with all the time and effort it takes to collect a stem cell unit.
