Heme/Onc Application 2009-2010

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Today , i called my mentor who is well known all over, he said he will make few calls, let us see.but he did mention to me it is your h1b, anyone else who has h1b but has lot of ivs as i know noone all my friends have gc

New to the forum. I am an IMG, GC holder with oncology experience.

Interviews so far: Columbia, U of Michigan, U of Minnesota, MDACC, Case Western, Fred Hutchinson, UNC, NIH, U of Maryland, U of Colorado, Cleveland Clinic.

Rejections equally impressive: DFCI, Foxchase, BIDMC, MSKCC, Mayo, Stanford, Iowa, Moffitt, Northwestern (hold), Oklahoma (hold).

Great compared to residency when I luckily matched with just 3 interviews.

Good luck everyone!!! This is a great forum 👍

Got CCF too!

An interview invite I received earlier this afternoon to myERAS wasn't forwarded automatically to my designated email. Just found it. Glad I happened to check ERAS tonight, after checking my email all day 😱 Just FYI for anyone suffering through a lull - check that ERAS!

UCI, UCLA Olive View, USC-Keck, UCSF, UCSD, UCLA 👍

Program fail, not ERAS fail. The PC or whoever is sending invites does this, it's not ERAS specific. Not checking ERAS at least daily during interview season is just stupid.

Gutonc: I really have found your posts helpful in the past, so I was quite dissapointed to read this... Folks on this forum are 'stupid' for not assuming the eras automatic forwarding system will hold true? Come on man.... Although, I must admit I also checked my eras inbox after reading this (of course empty other than notifications that had been forwarded to my email)... 🙄

Good conversations guys - best of luck in the coming weeks, as many programs haven't extended interviews yet!

I didn't say anyone was stupid, I said that not checking ERAS was stupid. The two things are different.

ERAS actually tells you that you need to check it regularly as not all communication that comes through ERAS will make it into email or your email may get filtered. Not following that recommendation is dumb.

The silence is killing...anyone hear from anywhere today...

Same here ! 👎

Thank you for your interest in the Hematology / Medical Oncology Fellowship Program at the Cleveland Clinic's Taussig Cancer Institute. While your background and application was impressive, due to the very large number of highly qualified applications received, we regret to inform you that we will be unable to offer you an interview at this time.
We appreciate your inquiry into our program and wish you the best of luck in your medical career.
Sincerely,
Lynn Mulgrew
Program Coordinator

TUTU-- think Im going to decline my interview at WFU, hopfully you will get an interview.

Nothing from CCF, wonder what that means???

Called Johns Hopkins...still reviewing all applications...invites to be out by last week of Feb.

UCSD has a new cancer center and is the main university program in the area. Scripps is definitely one of the best 2-3 non-academically affiliated institutions in the country (but they still do a ton of research). UCSD will probably have the more classical fellowship experience (county, VA, university) and is probably a slightly better name nationally. You cant go wrong with either, theyre both great from what I hear

Rej - Univ of Louisville 👎

and finally after 2 weeks, one call !

Thomas Jefferson 👍
(They left a phone message, and I am trying to reach them. She did say that she will email the dates)

Update:
did finally got hold of her, and sealed the date.
I was on ON HOLD list, which got activated 'coz folks cancelled !

New to the forum. Thanks for all the great info.

Still waiting to hear from UAB and Hopkins.

Rest of my interviews are lined up and kickoff is here!

1st interview at Moffitt - loved the program! The fellows seemed genuinely happy with their experiences thus far.

Good luck to all!

Does anyone know about university of Tenessee program? How is it? (research emphasis or clinical emphasis or both). I am planning to go there next week. Any big name there? Would appreciate your response.

By the way, got IV from Wake Forest and University of Cincinnati yesterday.

hey, thanks for the info...i was wondering the same thing..

I dont foresee any further light shining on my inbox. 50% of the programs I applied to have not yet responded, however, considering most of them have already sent out invites, I am taking these as impending rejections.

I begin Iv journey coming week and will post my experiences afterwards. Tutu initiated a very good trend of posting couple of experiences, hopefully all of us will follow.

Good luck to everyone with interviews and then match process...

Boston University invite by email (2/12). Multiple dates from February to May, Mondays and Fridays. 🙂

Anyone heard from the mid-Atlantic programs? (Hopkins looks like theyre still reviewing, but UMD, UVA, VCU, GW?)

Can anyone comment on these programs (either IV or rejection), as I haven't heard a peep from them:
- UAB
- OHSU
- Mt Sinai
- Dartmouth
- Rush
- UNMC
- Mayo Clinic, Phoenix
Thanks and good luck!

I'm also waiting on OHSU, Rush, and UofChicago but don't think I've seen anyone post anything yet.

From University of Louisville yesterday. But may have no time to go. How is that program?

Dartmouth had send out an email about a month ago saying they were still reviewing apps. No IVs or rejections yet though.
