man we really blew through page 14 on this thread so i thought i'd at least post so i could be the first on page 15😀 .

not too much new, other than 👍 from duke. apart from the west coast bias, there also seems to be bias against southern programs. i guess everyone wants to live in 9 degree weather...

does anyone know about duke's program. i have friend who has a friend who has an ex-boyfriend who goes there now. supposedly he works really hard and is not too happy. i never spoke to the guy so that info is totally hear say.

continued good :luck:

No news from UCSF for me. What's going on? Anyone else that didn't hear anything from them?

you might want to log on to eras and check the message center. i think ucsf has been having problem with their eras communication emails. my rejection was sent through eras, i noticed that it was sent out in the morning around 9 am, but i didn't get the email till tonight around 8 pm.

regarding stanford, i'm also still waiting on them, likely going to be a rejection too...

Hi Cherry Ghost, when did you hear from Duke? Recently or much earlier?

Thanks, happybob. I checked ERAS as well. Nothing there either from UCSF.

Cherry I've heard similar things about Duke. The word on the street is that its a pretty rigorous program. 1st year fellows are the work mules of the department, etc. They're a little closer to home for me, so perhaps more apt to be true, but I can't say that I know for sure. I will ask around. I can say that the IM interns there are still wearing short coats. What's up with that?

Has anyone heard anything from Dartmouth?

good news from Duke too...

I am new here but I am alwasys reading your comments guys

for me so far, one interview, and 8 rejections.

last one from UW.

hey, I also got the same rejection from UW yesterday

Just when I thought I was recovered from the stress and angst of residency applications now it's time for fellowship. Applied to an insane number of programs both university and community given that I'm an IMG without research experience. First interview's tomorrow at Newark Beth Israel. I have 6 total, is that a good number where I can kind of relax? It's hard when you keep hearing things like "record number of applicants" and "400 applications for 2 spots".

Interviews
1. Newark Beth Israel
2. University of Alabama
3. Wayne State university
4. University Minnesota
5. UMDNJ - RWJ (Camden)
6. Maimonides

Rejections
1. Univ of Colorado -- email
2. Medical College SC -- email
3. Dana Farber -- letter
4. Fox Chase -- letter
5. Columbia -- email
6. Mayo MN -- email
7. Cleveland clinic -- email
8. U penn -- email
9. U of Washington -- email (finally after 6 emails saying still considering application)
10. MD Anderson

and a couple of others that I can't remember off the top of my head.
Good luck everyone!

Anybody heard from Hopkins?
Still have to be rejected by this big one! 🙂
Also rejected by UW and UCSF.

I have heard that hopkins sent out first group of invites already..

For me, I have not heard from majority of the programs that I applied, two of them emailed saying "please wait, we are still reviewing", 4 interviews, 6 rejections..IOWA, FOX CHASE, BID, UPENN, YALE and COLUMBIA

Hey everyone,

So...the focus of anxiety has now moved from receiving interview offers to actually going on my first 2 interviews which are early next week! I was pretty chill when it came to residency interviews since that's a pretty relaxing environment as it was a buyer's market. With heme/onc becoming more competitive and the fact that I have a huge hole in my research background, I'm actually getting a little nervous 😳 Especially since these first 2 interviews are at programs that I REALLY like (at least, I think I'm going to like them) 😛

Anybody else getting the pre-interview jitters?

That's correct. They have having problems with atleast rejection emails. got it 2 days after they sent it out in ERAS

Perhaps you can request your PD/Other attendings to make a few calls on your behalf. It is not uncommon and you may be able to land some interviews..

I was wondering how many interviews people are doing, I have 12 or 13 and I was considering cancelling maybe 2, what do you think?

9 interviews so far, planning to go for 6 of those. Nothing else seems to be in the pipeline, unless by some miracle JH happens.

Hey everyone -

I just got an interview at University of Chicago. Was really surprised...I'm from the east coast and most of my interviews are in NYC.

can anyone tell me anything about this program...(midwest MD maybe? 🙂

is it malignant? are people happy?

more than one hospital? do you need a car?

is Chicago really THAT cold in the winter? (just kidding).

thanks.

thanks sarthi, I really don't have the time or energy to go to extra interviews.
I also got the Univ of chicago rejection...

Just received rejection from the place above.
Good luck to all of us.:luck:

Please those who are not attending the interviews should let the programs know ahead of time so that you can benefit fellow applicants.
Thanks in advance.

Anybody heard from Baylor? Basically I gotta hear from Baylor, Hopkins and Michigan... Michigan has already sent out invites which probably means rejected and Hopkins is a very long shot! 🙂
Good luck in the interviews now!

Phone invitation followed by e-mail from Oregon.

congrats!!! I have heard good things about the program from one previous senior resident who went there. They have not contacted me yet. Hopefully they will.
Good luck to all of us.:luck:

While planning on my trip to Philly, I called UPenn and surpringly I was told over the phone I was invited and they were waiting for my response to their e-mail! I never received anything from them. Anyways, I am gald I called today. I called MSKCC today also but I was not on the list for now but was told they are still reviewing applications.

To HAM2, have you decided to go to Florida or not? It would cost me 500 bucks for fly there both ways. I am seriously considering cancelling that. Although I would not mind living in Florida.

Just came back from Iowa interview. People there were very nice and we were invited to PD's house and played pool with faculties and fellows. Standard questions such as why our program, what you want to achieve in our program etc. also asked willingness to relocate. I liked the program a lot. However, it was my first interview so far. will see.

I'm getting tired of this waiting crap... 😡 :scared: 😴

I assume no one has heard from Wisconsin, Loyola (Chicago), or U Mich?

I think U Mich has sent out the invites

Cyberdoc:
congratulations on the UPenn interview offer. From one of your previous posts, i recall that you were on EAD. Were you able to find out any information on the programs, which are solely run on NIH training grant and hence EAD candidates are not eligible?

Spring2:

I received an ERAS email from Maimonides for invite. Their remaining dates on my email were today and Feb 27.

Hey --
Have any of you guys faced any really harsh interviews yet? I've only done a couple so far but they've been friendly and mostly chit-chat about the program ...

I'm actually still waiting to hear from UofChicago 🙁 so all I know is general heresay. From what I've heard, it's a very strong program that is extremely dedicated to training academic oncologists. It lacks a designated NCI comprehensive cancer center like Northwestern but it's no slouch when it comes to being a research powerhouse. I heard that it's trying to ramp up it's clinical training as it is currently stronger in the lab. Interestingly, they have one of the few MD's outside of a major comp cancer center that can start up phase 1 clinical trials.

Don't know about whether the program is malignant...I hadn't heard that one before. Also don't know if the fellow's are happy or not.

I believe they operate solely out of their location in Hyde Park but could be wrong. Not sure about the car situation but I know residents had kept one around for social reasons.

Hope my limited knowledge helps, congrats on getting an interview there!

Hey -

Thanks for the info. much appreciated.

does anybody know how competitive it is to get into U Chicago? I was kind of surprised to get an interview. I am thinking it might not mean much since they are probably interviewing 75+ people for a few spots.

also, does anybody know anything about Thomas Jefferson University in Philly?

are people happy? malignanat? good training?

thanks.

I think it is a good hospital because I am going there interview too.. 🙂
Well is is among the top 50 cancer center, NIH funding. Good area too.

If anyone is still waiting to hear from UNC Chapel Hill, it may be a good idea to call them. When i called, they informed me that they had FORGOTTEN to send the 'sorry reject' email😀

Hopkins finally sent out invites by email.

Good luck to everyone on the interviews.
