Hey guys,
I was just reading the HIV thread and im curious about the whole Hepatitis B restick/nick thing. I know the rates of transmission are higher than HIV, but the CDC article says theyve gone down because of the vaccine. Can someone tell me more info? I'd like to know more about this risk, especially at a medical school in a major city.

As a med student you should be vaccinated.

It just seemed to me like there was still a risk of transmission with the vaccine. Am I just reading the website wrong? Please elaborate.

More often than not, Hep-B resolves in 95% of patients. Then there are unfortunate people who can't clear the virus and become Chronic Carriers..which can progress to chronice Hep-B and Hepatic cancer.

However, with a course of Hep-B vaccination, the risk of transmission is slim.
You should have immunity against Hep-B.
