In FA 2015 page 200, table of difference between innate and adaptive immunity,

it says

innate immunity - resistance persists through generations, does not change within an organisms lifetime.

adaptive immunity - microbial resistance not heritable.

I'm really confused with what this means.

could someone explain.

thanks

this is how i think about it.. not scientific but hope it helps

innate immunity is called innate because we are born with a certain set of arsenal which was passed down to us

adaptive immunity depends on the antigens we encounter and thus it is differs even within a family
