HI,

i'm planning to go to medical school after my 1st bachelor's degree in East Asian Studies. I've "just" decided that I want to pursue my dream in medical field so obviously have not satisfied all the req.'s for medical school. I'm currently a senior in UCLA and will be graduating this Summer. My plans are to take the rest of req. courses after graduation in either UCSD or UCI (or UCLA or any other CC's or UC's :s). I was wondering if anyone knows about financial aid situation in my circumstance.

1. So, i've filed my fafsa for 2012-2013 for UCLA just in case I decide to stay. But, do you know if I decided go to other UC's or CC's I would get a chance to receive or reapply for financial aid if not now?

2. How do I reapply for UC's if I only decide to take classes? (not for a degree)

This may sound really confusing, but if you did understand me please please help! :c

Thank you!!😍

Can you delay graduation? That might be the easiest way to avoid headaches with trying to get into a different school and then registering for classes late since you are a non-degree-seeking student (some schools don't let students who are non-degree-seeking register until later than the degree-seeking students.)

If you're not really good at school with a splendid gpa you should consider moving to another state with less selective state schools. Ny and Ohio come to mind. Establish residency while doing your postbac.

This is my suggestion as well. I do know the CA medical schools are some of the most competitive in the country. Not sure what your GPA is, but there is some truth to what the other posters are saying...

Anyway, delaying your graduation for a second major would probably be your best bet. Find something like biomedical science or something that has most of your prereqs, start taking classes and when you finish your prereqs you can apply for graduation from the initial degree, or if you want to finish the second you can, but it won't be necessary...
