Which schools have high GPA cutoffs before they even review your app?

I know U of MIAMI has a cutoff at 3.6 for OOS.

What other schools are there?

I think the MSAR will be a more useful tool for you.

Well the msar tells us whether each school screens or not. It doesn't show the cutoffs. I wanted to know which schools have pretty high cutoffs.

Where did you hear this about UMiami?

Also the MSAR has 10th, 50th, and 90th percentile data but does not have information like this

This might be quicker (though not easier, this may be a deal breaker) for you to do:
-open up MSAR. Look at what schools you're interested in and feel you are a good fit, both competitively and in terms of your application and interests
-check the school's admissions website for any specific information regarding their program concerning admissions requirements.

This probably won't help you, but Jefferson and RWJMS have told me to my face in the last couple weeks that they have written policies against considering applicants with AMCAS GPA<3.0. So there's a 3.0 cutoff at those two places

Nearly every med school on their admissions web site says GPA must be >3.0. This is including DO schools. You'll find a few exceptions though.

are these cutoffs (not the 3.0.. thats just a given)... but rather the higher, 3.6 cutoffs that the OP mentions typically for cGPA or for both cGPA and sGPA?

McGill and Indiana cut off 3.5/3.2 Cum/sci. U of T Med cuts off everyone at 3.6. I believe it is safe to say top schools like Harvard etc. cut off at 3.6 - their WORST matriculants are 3.7! If your overall is 3.6+ you are safe.

Indiana's cutoff for "well qualified students" who want to apply early decision is 3.6 haha. Pretty lax.

And when we mean gpas...we're talking about amcas GPAs, not school transcript GPAs, right?

I come from a school that does the whole quarter system with .1 intervals on a 4.0 scale...so yea...lots of conversions...BLECH.

I thought that cutoff for OOS applicants to UMiami was in the past and it was for getting a 2ndary. Anyone know if they just "say" that they'll consider OOS'ers with <3.6 for a 2ndary but then really just want their money? I believe last year's cycle was when this rule was changed...does anyone know someone from OOS with <3.6 who got a 2ndary to UMIami or got in?
