I went to an academically rigorous high school.

My high school had an agreement with a few of the state schools that getting certain grades in certain courses would give us college credit. Professors from each university came to my high school, sat in on classes/labs, looked at the syllabus, and signed an agreement.

This is what happened to me for General Chemistry (8 hours).

AMCAS says they do not accept high school transcripts. However, the grade for this course is listed on a high school transcript.

On my college transcript, it lists my high school's name, along with transfer and 8 hours, but does not specifically say it is for general chemistry credit.

I guess this is kind of like AP, but I didn't have to take the AP exam.

Sounds like the kind of question you should e-mail/call in to AMCAS. Save the e-mail trail, or get the name of who you spoke too so when they whine about your application, you have proof that you already asked beforehand.

My high school did the same thing, it was called "College in the schools" (CITS).

In our program, we got college credit from a local community college, so the grade appears on our high school transcript but also on the community college transcript. I would call the college that gave you credit and see if you have a transcript through them, then send that transcript to AMCAS.

Also, if the credit was through a community college, you should maybe be concerned about how med schools view taking prereq's there. If it was just gen chem then it probably isn't a big deal, but if you also got credit for bio, physics, etc that way it might be a problem.

Ditto. I had to send transcripts from my local state school. If there's a record of your credit there, that's what you want (and are required to) send to AMCAS.
