the question is, how come these series all have different amounts of details on a particular topic when they are all board review books? for example, FA is very basic, but if you read BRS physio or HY biochem...they would give you much more detail.
i dont understand why they are different? ideally, they should be the same...

it's a matter of personal preference and praticality.

i.e. for a heavily tested topic such as path, u'd want to get brs since it has a lotta info. For a low yield topic like anatomy, stick w/ HY anatomy or even FA. You should check out the rapid review series. I like how it's level of content is thorughout, but not too much. I'd say it's in between HY and BRS, skewed towards BRS. Probably has 85-90% of what BRS has.

BRS caliber:
-path
-physio
-behavioral sci
-Microbiology made ridiculously simple (Not BRS)

HY caliber:
-Biochem/molbio
-Pharm
-Anatomy/Neuroanatomy (if sufficent time)

FA Caliber
-Pharm
-Embryo
-Bits of biochem, anatomy, neuroanatomy, etc.

awesome man! im saving that list! i totally agree with it and it agrees with what people have been saying here for a long time. thanks
