I have recently discovered a group for individuals who are hard of hearing or deaf (Deaf) and in the field of audiology. I know several of you here are HOH (hard of hearing), so I think this would be a great place to gather with others already in the field of audiology or in the Au.D program.

Here's the link. Let me know what you think!

The more I have gotten into the field, the more and more I see this. There are two second years in the program I'm in that wear hearing aids and when I interviewed at UNC there were a couple other interviewees that had hearing aids. I have also met various faculty members at universities that use CI's. It seems that having a lot of experience in the field as a patient tends to draw people into the field as a profession. That definitely brings a unique perspective to things as well.

Sam Atcherson is a part of this group, as well as another medical association. We have two in our class ranging from moderate to severe hearing loss. You can thrive in this field! Glad to see that there are organizations that can guide the way.
