More important question - how did you not get in THE FIRST TIME YOU APPLIED with scores like that? If a candidate such as you is not getting in, I have *ZERO* chance.

Did you improve your DAT between the first cycle and this one? Apply at a different time? I find it hard to believe you didn't get in anywhere... You must have gotten some interviews. How did they work out?

When did you apply the first time you applied and when did you apply this time around?

How much dental field related experience do you have? before/after?

with over 1000 hours of assisting and those scores you HAD to of applied late last cycle.

So make sure you get your app in ASAP and dont blow it in the interview.

also, looking at your predents, you only applied to 5 schools last cycle????? 5 schools is where you apply with 3.89 24/24/29. Apply to 12-20 schools and you'll be fine.

I believe that's the OP's new DAT scores.

As for the chances, don't worry man, you are good to go!

Yea these are good scores and will def. get you interviews, from that point the balls in your court

thanks for the feedback ... ive got my fingers crossed ... good luck to you all as well

I didn't get in the first try either, and my stats were pretty good. Sometimes it's just a combination of things and luck of the draw. My second time, I had 7 interviews, including those for alternate spots, and I only got one acceptance. It worked out for the best that LLU accepted me, but I thought I would get more than one acceptance. Instead, I got like 4 waitlist spots.

Just remember that there are roughly 5000 spots in all the schools combined, and somewhere between 12 and 20,000 applicants each year (off the top of my head). Let's assume that only half of the applicants have "good" stats. That still means that 50% of the remainder are going to get seats. Sometimes it is just a matter of space.

The hell, where did you two apply? UCLA/Harvard? Now you've even made me a bit nervous because I am likely going to end up with similar or worse scores and would like to go to UOP.

thanks ... your post unfortunately doesnt give my nerves any relief. You have very solid stats, better than mine in fact and you only got 1 acceptance? I do however feel that you may have been accepted elsewhere if you hadnt withdrawn your application pre/post interview. What are youre honest thoughts when you look over my stats?

I only withdrew after I had gotten accepted to LLU or the other school had told me that I had been waitlisted.

I think you have a really good chance. Your DAT scores are nice and consistent (unlike mine that vary by 11 points from highest to lowest) and you have a lot of extra-curricular stuff that I certainly didn't have. I really don't know how that affects one's app because I didn't have it myself, but I can only assume it will serve you well.

If you interview well and applied to enough schools, I'd say you have a great chance of being offered at least one spot.

Don't be discouraged, though. Look at phraud who was just accepted off NYU's waiting list. Talk about 11th hour!

edit: your list of schools is good. you should get at least a handful of interviews.

you have pretty solid stats. second time app shows that you are serious and committed. apply to alot of schools. Like others have said its a combo of good app package and luck of the draw! if i was in admin committee, i would be highly inclined to accept anyone who showed a lot of passion, and of course the stats to show they can handle the curriculum.
