Hooking Up With Other Interviewee(s) Or Current Student During Interview Season?

Reflecting on the past year and interview season, there were some good times, some bad, and some just plain ridiculous.

During the thicket of my interview season, I was once at a school where during some of the day's downtime, I struck up conversations with some of the other candidates over lunch. Soon it became blatantly obvious (like highschool note passing style), that one girl I had met was very interested in, how do I say this...banging (stress relief?). I could not stop laughing in my head, and quickly expressed how despite being flattered, that I have been in a loving committed relationship for over 2 years and it would not be going down.

This has been an amazing source of humor for my friends and I this year, and if I had been single, who knows, I mean, I wasn't that crazy about the school anyway :laugh:

So my story begs the question, have any guys or girls had a similar expirience, and if so PLEASE tell me someone has acted on it!

Oh and so this thread can't be moved, how did this impact your ability to interview? 🙂
 
Yes. I banged my interviewer on the desk. Then all the adcoms or other interviewees came in and joined in. Before you know it was one big giant med school interview orgy. When it was finished, I was like "yeah, cool!".

So this wasn't for med school, but when I applied to Cambridge I had to go interview on campus... There was plenty of alcohol where I stayed and I met quite a few others who were applying to my major.

Running into the guy later with his butler/manservant/housekeeper/whatever carrying his enormous portfolio & baggage, while he himself stood all patrician and privileged, kind of gave me a bad taste in my mouth though... I guess class-based contrasts aren't quite as stark in the States. :lame:

Edit: Oh and I was supposed to review a ton of physics before my interview, didn't, and ended up doing horribly. My interviewer was this bitter, snarky knight who kept on making fun of my American accent and upbringing 🙁

Almost all my interviewers have screwed me in one way or another.

I found the interview season to be too nerve racking for macking.. I mean once I got my first acceptance I def started checking more girls out but it was never a good environment to make any moves. I did enjoy drinking at the airport pre and post interview and talking with random people at the bars..it was a lot more enjoyable than I expected.

I would enjoy this too! Makes me wonder if I should have gone into a line of work like business where I had to travel etc.

But whatever, there are conferences to attend in medicine. Plenty of airport bars.

My favorite part of attending a conference was enjoying a nice beer before getting on the plane.

Until you get sick of sleeping in hotel rooms and start severely missing home.I had back-to-back conferences within same week....felt pretty lonely.

I've never been home sick really... the only thing I missed was my own bed. Hotel rooms aren't all that bad. Especially if they're nice enough.

This is so true. I always think it'd be fun to travel to places but after a while all I want is to go back to my own place, mix myself a drink and pass out.
 
At my Penn interview, I was riding an elevator with a pretty cute female candidate. Our eyes met for just a second, but I saw immediate chemistry.

We were just got done with our interviews, and I was stuck in town for the night. So, I figured why not. I leaned over and whispered into her waiting ear:

"We're no strangers to love. You know the rules and so do I. A full commitment's what I'm thinking of. You wouldn't get this from any other guy. I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling. Gotta make you understand"

Didn't hook up with anyone but there was this beautiful thick Hispanic girl in my interview group at El Paso. My dream was for us to both get accepted and become study buddys. Then I was waitlisted, which turned into rejected. Dream crushed. However, I think the experience improved my interview skills (not).

I had a couple of beers with a girl from Harvard after one of my interviews. It was a lot of fun.

I really enjoyed just meeting people in general. Interviewing in general was probably one of the best times of my life. It's hard to beat averaging one trip a week to see some of the best schools in the world and meat a bunch of crazy, interesting people.
 
Upon my arrival at one interview I noticed two other interviewees wondering off together and hanging all over each other. I was like DAAAYHUM! Was there some social function for prospective students that I missed out on last night where these two hit it off?
Then I found out they were married and I was like SIIICK! Keep it in your pants for half a day.. you live together for Christ's sake.

Business travel gets old after a while.

You do get to meet some interesting people.

However (and I say this as a 26 year old male), there are very few lady business travelers. Even fewer lady business travelers your own age (out of about 300 flights over the last few years, I've sat next to three attractive women. One happened to be an actress on a popular show. That was awesome).

I was pretty tired of traveling at the end of my interviews. It IS fun, but dealing with security, late night/early morning drives/flights, and constantly moving from one place to the next gets old quick.

I say this as a 26 year old male as well, you are picking the wrong seats in airport bars if out of 300 flights you have only found 3 attractive young women to sit next to.
