Hopkins Osler Interview but not Bayview?

Is this common? I know that Osler is the stronger program, but I'm not sure how competitive/likely to match at Osler I am but I would also really like to interview at Bayview because I heard it is also a good program. I know Bayview has already issued some interviews and I haven't heard from them. Is it likely that someone might receive an interview from the Osler program but not from the Bayview program? I guess I could always call and say I'll be in the area and maybe Bayview would offer me an interview.

Happened to me last year. Then got an invitation from Bayview after interviewing at Osler. With a plenty of appologies on the interview day.

If you're not from that area, I think it is quite possible. Programs can't interview everyone, they won't interview people they don't want, but they also aren't going to interview too many people that probably won't want them...No program wants to go unfilled, and no program wants to conduct 20 interviews for every spot. However, if you are from that region they will interview you, knowing it might be a safety for you. Additionally, I think if you contact them and say you'd like an interview, they probably will give you one because that indicates to them that at least you'll rank them towards the bottom of your list, even though you'll almost certainly match to a better program.

they may think you're not truly interested depending on where you are from, your numbers, and your prior research experience. The two places are pretty different, personality-wise. I'd email them if you're truly interested and mention that you'll be in the area and are sincerely interested in interviewing.

Agreed, i think giving Bayview a call or email will go a long way
