Has anyone heard anything from Hopkins Anesthesia? I plan to rank it at the top. I am just wondering if they ever send any correspondence after interview season is over.

Nothing other than the generic stuff, although last year I heard differently. I loved Hopkins as well.

I did a second look for a couple hours. Didn't get a chance to really talk to PD so emailed her....no response

I got a call and am e-mail from the chair... resident there said that the top 20 ranks or so get that call , but that a little more than half the people in her current year get that call...I talked with one other person on the trail who was called and it seems to correlate with a step1 250+..

Thanks for the info!...not looking too good for me then . Did the resident mention about how far they usually go down their list? The chief told me they rank ~ 120 out of about 140 interviewed which I thought was a lot being ranked overall.

Whether or not Sinai offers better training than Mercy is up to debate...there was some note about its IM program being under probationary status and the hospital is about 10 miles away from the main campus (good/bad depending on where you live and your views on Baltimore/Northwest).
Sinai does keep it connections with JHH in that if you have research or some other project you want to do, you can find a way to do it and connect it with your residency, but that wouldn't put it over Mercy for me. Mercy has a brand new hospital opening up and I instinctually more comfortable there.

I agree and I got to see the new hospital before they opened and looks amazing. I talked with a resident who did their intern year at Sinai, and she didn't like it too much. And got a call today too!

Reminder to everyone:

Don't believe everything that you read on here. SDN is the best source of info out there but match time is very stressful to everyone and unfortunately there are always going to be users that post not-so-truthful information (trolls) during this time of year - which may or not be disguised.

Almost everyone matches and almost everyones situation works out OK. Rank where your gut tells you to go, not based on some email correspondence or phone call, etc.

I didn't hear a single thing from anywhere I interviewed yet still matched where I wanted to be.

Tons of developing, lots of gentrification, but still some ghetto areas. Bottom line, it's an awesome time to match at Hopkins if you like the fundamentals of the residency program. The new hospital will open during your prelim year and some of the growing pains will hopefully be ironed out by the time you start CA-1. Lots to look forward to.

I've heard of alot of people on SDN who said they got that call...so either they're all in the top 20, or they call alot more? I got the call as well afew days prior to the 23rd, so do you think if you get the call + rank them first you're chances are good?

I got a call from a Hopkins person...not the Chair though. I did get a 250+ on Steps 1 and 2.
