Interviewed at Drexel today. Worst interview possible, in my opinion. I knew it would be a bad day when I noticed that there were approximately 50 applicants there. How impersonal could the day possible be? The entire day just went downhill. All of the interviewers were running late. My 2nd interview started over an hour late. By the time that I finished that interview, I had missed my 3rd interview (that interviewer was running closer to his scheduled time). The interviewers themselves were rude, and seemed overworked (though with 50 applicants there I can somewhat understand). One thought I was a different applicant, and started out by asking, "So, how was...?". And I'm like, Um...I didn't do that. The PD and chairman met with every applicant (I give them credit for that), but they each lasted about 5 minutes, and were totally pointless. This is the only interview that I've been on where the chairman/pd didn't seem to pay any attention to my answers, and cut me off midsentence. I can't possibly think of a worse interview day.

To top it off, I spoke with some of the residents who were very unhappy with the program (at least 2-3 said that in retrospect that they wouldn't have ranked the program). MCP is now closed, so the residents lose out on that teaching hospital.

In conclusion, this was the worst interview day possible. I think it reflects very poorly on the program. And, most certainly this program will NOT be anywhere on my rank list. I'd rather go unmatched, than end up there.

Was anyone else's experience as bad as mine? (Especially those who interviewed today).

Long time reader, first time poster. I've been reading this forum for some time now, and have learned a lot. I should have been posting all along. What led me to break my silence? The drexel interview I had today...

I must agree with the above poster. Though my experience didn't seem to be quite as bad as his, it was a poor overall showing for a program that I had high expectations for. This is one of the "strongest" programs that I was offered an interview at, and I really thought I might like to go there (as I'm in the midwest currently, and want to escape). But, after my interview, I decided that I won't rank this program. I'd rather stay in Ohio than go to this program.

I heard so many bad comments on Drexel while on the interview trail that I ended up cancelling my interview. I'm glad that I did now, given the reports that are coming back from today's interviews. I too was initially very interested in this program, but I guess the word on the street doesn't lie.

Kimberly Cox...what do you mean? Are you a resident in PA?

I'm sorry - I didn't mean for that to sound curt (or "Chief like"). Sometimes I forget that we have a fair number of "new" users that don't know where I'm from or how to check the profiles.

Don't you have (or have had) an interview with us?

Wow. How do you find time to moderate SDN?

Not nearly as much as I used to. But there's time between cases, in the evenings at home, on vacation (like I am now), etc. And frankly, the forums really Moderate themselves these days (for the most part).

But you find time for the things you enjoy and I enjoy this. 😀
