I agree - the COVID response is where it started going bad. It really showed me that he is playing games on many levels.
For you it only started now. For lots of others it started even before he got elected.

In the 2016 presidential election i did not see how trump could help the country and the product of his presidency speaks volumes to it. He has used and abused the office with his supporters standing by complicit. Threats of violence again at the capitol and state capitols for the ignaguration according to major news outlets. Was the swamp " drained" nope just infested.

Well 2nd impeachment is already locked in with Pence denial to invoke 25th amendment. I doubt Trump can survive next 8 days as McConnell is also supporting impeachment. GOP has to cleanse their party in order to be viable and that starts with Trump and his enablers.

I don't think it matters. The Senate is not in session and won't vote in time to convict regardless of whether they have the votes or McConnell's support.

With current pro-forma session it seems that way. However if McConnell wants, he can bring the Senate in session to proceed or mounting pressure from GOP forces Trump to resign to save his *** from future conviction. Finally seeing GOPers are coming to their sense, McConnell has nothing to loose at this point, he will be minority leader for at least 2 years.

Agreed these idiots will try to harm Biden, Harris, Pelosi Trump really has emboldened them

If there could be a silver lining to this, it's brought the normal looking extremists to the surface and they have also committed crimes so they will be giving up their freedoms. Read an article an Olympic althelete is suspected of entering the capitol.

A lot of people I know are apparently Trump supporters. Some just support him because he is the Republican nominee and they want lower taxes, but some other people I knew, it didn't make sense. When I asked them about why they support him and I pressed hard enough, the real answer emerges:

"this country is changing too much and I want it to go back to the way it was before".
"Real Americans are being forgotten and being made 2nd class citizens behind immigrants".
"Listen man, this country was founded by Europeans for Europeans and now those European values are disappearing. I don't want this to become a Muslim country."

Pharmacist in OP get his license revoked yet? Any update on the case?

I believe the consensus is you can still impeach and bar from office after January 20th, which makes sense as that would embolden outgoing presidents more if they can just run out the clock in the late duck period.

Then President Harris will just live in the secured bunker for the rest of term, and I’d support that. Side note: she was my #1 pick in the primaries.

There was a comedian (swear it was Carlos Mencia) who joked, if you were worried about a presidential assassination, have a Mexican VP who was public about opening the southern border...that was your insurance policy.

Man, politics has changed quite a bit since ~2005 when all we had to worry about was “illegal immigrants” and maybe someone flashing a nipple on live TV.

I have no doubt there are many who voted to keep the social order intact whether explicitly saying it or not. Bad news for them, America is becoming browner everyday. They had better get busy at getting busy or things will change no matter who is in office. But this makes for some strong supporters who will excuse any behavior from their leader.

And when you respond to them that your goal is to create a new social order in America and take those currently on top and throw them to the bottom, they call you a reverse racist, lmao.

Agreed. My point was that Trump will almost certainly finish his term. The quote that I disagreed with was saying that he will be removed before his term ends.

What I don’t get is how you have people like Tiki Torch and Just Fill It trolling out of control, while longstanding, contributing members like BMBiology get banned.

Tiki literally trolling by feeding off of the suffering of victims, and gets only a temporary suspension. Kid should have been banned within a page of responses not after multiple pages and users reporting him.

Then you have JFI rambling with walls of text about how it’s “both sides,” ignoring facts, and then walking back comments when he’s asked to justify terrorist behavior by saying, “I’m not a part of that so don’t ask me to defend it.” You literally see the terrorists breaking windows and jumping in the building waving confederate flags but it’s “both sides?”

Dude don’t bring up topics to justify your stance if you can’t also defend it. I’m literally shocked by the sheer amount of willful ignorance and trolling in this thread and community.

Edit: Other noticeable troll is m0df.

Now anyone who is not in full agreement with CNN/MSNBC is a troll.
Anyone who defies democratic processes and will (votes) of people, yet pretend to be a patriot is a troll.

Rofl. So what's your plan to modernize 70 million of your citizens?

Where did I say I support the riots? Where did I say I support/supported Trump? Where did I say there was an issue with elections or democratic process? Absurd.

Keep going with your rhetoric. Really. Our countrymen are not going anywhere. Your fancy argument is lets impeach this guy and throw him out days before he is scheduled to depart. /golf clap
Nor did I say 70M are troll.
Indeed absurd, all I said who is troll. its your call, whether that hat fits you or not.
Well he deserves what he has done to country in last 4 years, not just last 1 week. Did you believe his teleprompter y'day or his rhetoric for stolen election since election verdict?
Do you know why constitution has allowed impeachment post-presidency? You will get answer for fancy argument.

Whoever wants to understand why Trump lost this year, look at turnout numbers, 66.7%, highest since 1900.

It will be interesting how this time period will be viewed in the future. I think republicans blew the opportunity here. People are sick of business as usual in dc and there is widespread dislike for socialistic programs. If Trump would have dialed it back there would be no 1st or 2nd impeachment And if he had just acted like he cared about COVID he would have got re-elected. But his ego was too big.

Agreed, as pharmacists we get enough of this at work. Let's have a civil discussion.

Ya know what - all I tried to do was talk to my peers about how I felt about the events of the past year. Just because I felt a little different does not mean that I am a troll, or anything of the sort. I was honestly reaching out and trying to find middle ground. This past year has been hard on us all in many different ways. If we don’t find common ground, and believe that people are truly good at heart, my fear is thing is going to just get worse.

Nice wall of text by the way.

That's my concern. There is no longer a different view. There is only an acceptable view. Apparently my view no longer falls in the acceptable range now that Lazy and few others have been removed.

It’s near impossible to have a civil discussion when you have select individuals acting in a toxic manner, especially when they are not participating in good faith to consider an actual exchange of ideas. One of the prerequisites to having any type of debate is for the participants to acknowledge valid points from all parties and to reassess their stance based on facts. Some of these individuals have clearly abandoned these tenets and instead are making personal attacks or focused on rage and emotion.

But the bigger problem with this forum is its nature that rewards individuals gifted in the art of arguing in bad faith. If such a toxic individual wants to join a conversation and ruin the conversation, they are rewarded for their ability to circumvent bans and warnings because they are clever at going about it, whereas the average poster responding to the bad faith arguments will almost certainly get banned because they are not as experienced in the art of toxic, bad faith debating. You can’t “win” an argument if you can’t respond since your account got banned while the instigator is laughing in the corner because they knew how to game the system. You can see this in recent posts where someone seemingly makes an innocent statement then leaves a snide comment at the bottom in an attempt to bait an inflammatory response resulting in a ban.

I have been on this forum for many years and I have seen extremely productive, helpful, contributing members receive warnings and bans largely because they aren’t sly enough to respond to toxicity in a “professional,” manner. It is difficult to blame many of them, because they grew up in older times where computers weren’t as advanced and toxic behavior had to be done face to face, leaving their skills at dealing with these (literally) master baiters subpar. The trends of this board have ultimately diluted the good blood in the community, leaving an increasing amount of toxic members who truly bring nothing positive to the forum.

It's our society in general. I let the disingenuous hurt themselves. I remember how in an earlier thread someone argued that Trump was not encouraging white racists by telling the proud boys to stand by. Well low and behold some of those gold ole proud boys were involved in the insurrection at the capital along with folks carrying Nazi flags.

Except even in the best case scenario, this method leads to incredible risk to individuals who were not disingenuous or even participants. For example, Pelosi had zero involvement at the Presidential Debate and the “stand by,” comment, but could have been killed in the attack last week because of the continued disingenuous recruitment.

I agree. Not only Pelosi but all other reps, their staffers, the police. Some people don't take politics seriously enough. It doesn't get any more real than the events of the sixth. But I think the disingenuous will get rid of themselves. What will it take for everyone else to "wake up."? That's the million dollar question. Lots of folks identify with Trump and believe in him. It's hard to believe bad things about someone you idolize. Maybe when he is one of the few not in prison for the riot while his followers are incarcerated (no pardon possible) things will change.

FYI there are non-huwhite supporters of Trump who are very anti-Gyna but they have been solid Republican voters over the years. You may have a noticed a certain foreign flag flying during the Capitol riots

Literal Qanon bitches are obv xenophobic though so it presents an interesting "dilemma" for such voters, which is usually resolved by putting their fingers in their ears.

We have gotten a lot of complaints about this thread. Since this thread has turned into mostly just flaming, insults, and baiting I am closing it. It is no longer constructive for SDN's mission or values. Feel free to have political conversations in our off-topic forum and remember that the pharmacy forum is not meant as a place to discuss politics and certainly not a place to insult other members or try to inflame us.
