I thought today's show was simply amazing! They do a great job of intertwining medicine and drama...very creative way of telling House's story🙂 I love the fact that the science isn't diluted as the drama increases-they go hand-in-hand. What did you guys think of today's show? I'm looking forward to the season finale!

without a doubt this was the best episode of the season 👍
 
I actually just started watching House, and it is a pretty damn good show
 
I just wanted to chime in on what's being said..

Without a doubt, I think that "House" is one of the best shows on tv to date :clap: Tonight's episode, though a bit confusing in the beginning (well, at least for me), was phenomenal! 😍 😍

By the way, I did not know that Hugh Laurie, the actor playing Greg House, is actually British.. 👍
 
Man, I love this show! Tonight's episode was pretty good. It was interesting how they did the episode. I like the Carmen Electra effect, but it was really interesting how House ended up being the patient.

I agree...it was a bit confusing at first. But, the resolution was great and unpredictable🙂

I saw the very first episode and thought the show was pretty stupid. Tonight was the first one that I watched since then and I thought it was a lot better... well done. At least it seems to be reasonably technically sound. I will say though that I couldn't get past them mistaking a dog bite for a snake bite. I'm just an EMT I can tell the difference. Nor necrotizing fasciitis for necrosis from a snake bite. That wouldn't be too tough a pick-up, I wouldn't think.

I just started watching the first three seasons of ER on DVD and that was a great show. I didn't start watching it until ~2001 so the DVDs are awesome.

I missed like 10 seconds of it when they told House he had to lecture, did they say who he was lecturing to? med students or residents?

By the way, they do make you role play breaking bad news in medical school the exact same way House described it...ie, pretenting you're a doctor and telling a classmate who's playing a patient that they have cancer. Miami has psychologists there to give us feedback on how we do it. 😳
 
If its anything like Grey's Anatomy then I wont watch. That show is the sux.

House is not like Grey's Anatomy. House actually goes into the science and process of diagnosing a case. Very intriguing show.

Grey's Anatomy...I want to like that show, but it just gets on my nerves. They have the residents acting too immature. Last episode: whining about your relationship during spinal cord surgery.

He is the head of Diagnostic medicine. He really does not seem to inclined to deal with people. Last night's show was really good. 😀 :clap: :clap: :clap:

I watched two or three episodes of House and just gave up on it. It has nothing to do with the real medicine, especially his relationships with patients. Just plain pointless and boring. My opinion.
 
House is one of the few shows that I catch weekly though I missed the starting part of yesterday's show. It was nice to see the background of House's leg and the format was a good change from the regular cases. The part of the show that I like is the problem based scenarios they use (like the problem based curriculum instead of the lecture mode of medschool). MD shows on TV of of course overdramatize things or are unrealistic in some way (ie the lack of focus on nurses, other medical staff on House- though this episode did bring in medstudents and nurses too) but I still like it. I guess it's a matter of opinion. Too bad that next week is the last one of the season 🙁
 
Thumb up 👍, by the way is that how case studies are portayed in med schools? It seemed intriguing and intimidating.

only wish case studies and didactics were that exciting, though as a new MD I can say House's "pimping" style is not too far off guard from my Surgery rotation.

the show was getting pretty old to me, but last PM's episode was quite good.

the plot thickens!

I thought it was great acting on Hugh Laurie's part. He managed to not change his facial expression at all when Stacey tells House that he's still the One, but still look vulnerable at that moment.

Of course, House would be a walking malpractice suit in real life, but I'm not sure I care. I love the show anyways 🙂

definitely, the guy is awesome. what type of pill was it that he popped at the end of the show? I know he took it off the patient but did you guys catch what it was, amphetamine?

are you sure? I thought it was one of the pills he got off the patient. the ones that had been illegally prescribed.... I think thats why they made a big deal about having the other doctors look at him when he put the bottle in his pocket earlier in the show.

hmm... but I guess it could have been his pain med since he did just almost fall down trying to walk without his cane, maybe they wanted to emphasize the fact that he's damaged. DRAMA, good ending. 👍
 
house is a pimp. i wish i had some of the deductive skills he had.
 
If you like Hugh Laurie, you should DEFINITELY pick up a copy of "Jeeves and Wooster" on DVD. It's a british comedy that he was in about 15 years ago. It's is freakin hysterical. When you see the character he plays in that, you will have a whole new appreciation for his acting skills.

It's seriously worth spending the money to get it, especially if you enjoy the subtleties of british comedy.

I think it was his pain meds. You know, at the end they show his ex happily married to her new husband, then it gets contrasted with House "married" to his Vicodin. Then again, it was awfully suspicious the way he palmed the amphetamines. Maybe he's going to use them to get himself wired enough to start serious rehab and get off the barbituates.

Netflix has "Jeeves & Wooster" on DVD, as well as "Black Adder." Hugh Laurie stars in the third and fourth seasons of BA, and rocks. Though his character in both those shows is about as far from Dr. House as you can possibly get.

One thing I worry about. I can accept that House is a freak, and basically specializes in differential diagnoses. But *all* his fellows are that good. Are most people right out of their residency really that good at coming up with those crazy-ass obscure diagnoses? I can't imagine pulling some of those diseases out of my a$$. (sorry if that metaphor was a little too graphic 🙂 )

I agree, I'm pretty sure his pain medication is smaller and spherical in shape, rather than large and oblong...also whats' the point in focusing on ae pill that he shoves in his mouth all the time? the camera work suggests more of a motive. but that just could be due to prop and set variation...i think I pay too much attention to this stuff.

Y'know -- I love House but for the first time was a bit tweaked by the medical sleuthing. Isn't porphyria universally marked by anemia? Wouldn't the super detectives have picked that up in their numerous blood tests? Certainly could have gotten them to theor Dx a little sooner.

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking, that if the pill he popped was an amphetamine he would use it to jumpstart his rehab.
 
I frikkin love this show. I want him to be with Stacey 😍 So cute together. Much better than Cameron

A couple weeks ago a patient on the show had the diagnosis of TTP (It was the episode where everyone had menigitis I believe), and I couldn't help but wonder why they didn't order a CBC right off the bat. 😉 However, it was a damn entertaining episode so who the hell cares?

No kidding! When I worked as a phlebotomist at a hospital, I don't think someone could walk in and ask for directions without a doctor ordering a CBC and Chem7 on them. I guess that would have ruined the dramatic tension. Like you said, it was still a good episode.
 
hey everyone,

unfortunately i missed the season finale...it was the day after my graduation and i was traveling home tuesday night🙁 so, i was wondering, if it wouldn't be too much to ask, if someone would be willing to briefly summarize what happened on the show for me or tell me where i can go online to find a synopsis. i tried doing a google search to find a synopsis but wasn't able to find one...
