Hey! 🙂 I just had a few questions about filling out housing contracts and was wondering if anyone could help out.

The contract says for students under 18, parents need to sign the form...but the space says student's signature and I see no other location for a parent signature. What do I do?

What exactly is a guarantor and who signs this space?

Thanks so much for the help!

Guarantor is where your parent will sign. It's kind of like a co-signing. I'm not sure of the strict legal definition but that's where your parent should sign.

I was hoping those two might connect. 😛 Thanks! So basically a guarantor is someone who makes sure I don't "default" on the contract or fail to make payments?

Exactly, as the post above said it's basically like a co-sign..

If you have opened up your own checking account and your parents co-sign it's probably like that, the co-signer can make payments, deposits, etc.. obviously you wont make deposits on the housing contract and I'm unsure how legally binding it is, but if you want to double check feel free to call the housing office of whatever school your going too, they get paid to do this sort of thing. 😉

good luck!
