Are housing violations (dorms) to be reported anywhere on AMCAS or to any medical schools? The reason that i ask is because there was an instance in my frosh year in which some of my friends and I thought it funny to put a nice care package of raw meat from the cafeteria on our RA's door with a nice letter accompanying it (the biotch took that seriously, go figure) I am not aware if it was reported, but supposedly we were (although i havent heard anything about it since, nor have i been made aware of anything on my record) So, a) is it likely that i have anything on my record that im completely unaware of, and that my premed advisor didnt even bring up during my interview and b) Do I have to report such a thing? Thanks guys

I would hope your school would have contacted about this at some point if you were in any sort of trouble. Contact your schools Judicial Affairs/ Student Affairs office to confirm your record is clear. And yes, if there something you must report it. Peace.

It's actually not as simple as that. Most schools do not release EVERYTHING to med schools, etc. So even if it is on your record (which is likely isn't if you were never put through a judicial process of some kind), they won't necessarily report it. Ask your school, since it varies A LOT about what appears on records (or what is on your record), how long they are kept, and what gets reported.

p.s. I'm not just making this up, I'm on a judicial systems task force at my school and we have been reviewing other schools' policies about this sort of thing. 🙂

As a former RA, I think it is safe to say that most schools do not report minor offenses. At the school where I worked, if you were just issued a "write-up" (we called it a blue slip), you met with the Resident Director and talked about it. After multiple offenses, you might have been referred to the Office of Judicial Affairs. Anything from Judicial Affairs or from the police (if charges were pressed) could be released; that would be at the discretion of the school or police department. As far as if you had gotten written up and had to meet with the Resident Director and were told not to do it again or made a "behavior contract" - THAT would probably not be released.

Hope that helps, and makes sense. I have to go back to work 🙂

Don't you have a right to read your file at your school? Maybe you could look into this and find out for sure.
